Dear Parents and Friends,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement about my appointment as the new principal of Lindley Sixth Grade Academy. I am elated to bring my skills as an educational leader to your student’s school and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure the success of all students at LSGA. I am thrilled to be on site permanently and I am looking forward to meeting each of you in person.
I would like to share some information about my background with you. I was born and raised in the Bahamas where I received all of my earlier education in Episcopal Schools. I graduated from high school at the age of sixteen and pursued education as a career. I earned an Associate’s Degree from the College of the Bahamas in the area of Psychology with a minor in Special Education. I continued my studies in the United States earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, A Master’s Degree in School Counseling, A Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership. I bring twenty-two years of educational and administrative experience to LSGA. I started my career in Cobb County as a special education teacher and high school counselor at Campbell HS. I was promoted to administration at Campbell HS where I served one semester as an Assistant Administrator before my promotion to an Assistant Principal at Pebblebrook HS. I continued my career as an Assistant Principal at Pebblebrook HS for four years before receiving my first principalship at Tapp MS. I have also served as Principal at Campbell MS and Campbell HS. I am now elated to serve as your principal at LSGA.
Along with my staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established at LSGA by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners. We will focus on 21st Century skills, literacy across all content areas, fostering a nurturing safe environment for all students, the use of data to inform instruction, consistent implementation of differentiated instructional strategies to increase students’ achievement, and providing exciting and challenging academic and enrichment opportunities for all students.
It is my hope that we will work together to provide the students of LSGA the best possible opportunities in preparing them to be world class citizens ready to master the challenges of the 21st Century with a solid foundation created here at our school. As Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to come by or call to make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet!
Together, we can make a difference!
I. Denise Magee, Ph.D.
